We have had excellent Officers from Belle Glade work this area, or move to Belle Glade from this area. Although I have not met your Loved One, I wish to express my extreme sorrow for your loss. If it gives you any peace of mind, know that prayers for our Protectors in all areas of Palm Beach County are consistently said 24/7 for all on duty, off duty, or on the way home to Heaven from this house.. You have a beautiful family who must have been very proud of Deputy Manuel, as are all of us who see these members of our Community helping our community on a daily basis, and I pray that you and your children are provided for, as I come from military family who does have a Police Officer working in New Jersey, as well as military working in Afghanistan as I write this October 15, 2012. Only God knows what plans are ahead for us, but in these times ahead, faith, hope and strength come from within and from those around us. I wish you these things and so much more. Please know that your husband and all who give so selflessly to protect others, have a special light inside of them, consistently watched over by God, and if taken too soon, there is another mission for them. You are in my prayers, your children as well, and I hope that as the days go by, your load gets lighter, and the community in Belle Glade, as well as all surrounding counties, support you in the coming years. This may be 2012, but all Officers serving will forever be known as heroes, and it is an honor to write to you on this morning. God bless you and your family. Prayers continue to come from this area of Palm Beach County. Blessings, Lauren Kaczor

My thoughts is I lost a wonderful son, his present was a protection for his entire family. Just knowing he was there made all feel safe, especially my parents being up in age. You can't explained how it feel to lose a child. He was my first born, the first to carry my seeds and nation. I miss him everyday, and wishes he was with me and his family. It was even harder for me because I came down from Charlotte NC to visit and never got to see him, I went to a game in Pahokee that he normally works but he was assign on another post. After going back NC couple days later the worst phone call of my life I received, daddy miss you dearly Tae, We miss you!!!!!!!!!!!

Donta we grew up together and started our time with P.B.S.O. as Explorers. We then worked at P.B.I.A. as Traffic Aides and then went to the Road Patrol. I have been holding back my emotions and I miss you and your senseof humor. There are times when something good happens and I find myself picking up my cell phone to call u and then I relaize u are not here. REST IN PEACE MY TRE BROTHER ...

So sorry to D/S Manuel's family, including all his brothers and sisters at PBSO. Another widow, more kids w/out a Father. Most people only look at law enforcement personnel as ticket writers; small inconveniences in their lives when pulled over for a traffic violation. But every day you suite up, is a day you risk your very Life. Thank you to all Deputy's and the extended families they have and represent. Thanks for doing the hard and dangerous job that keeps us citizens safe. To D/S Manuel's family, I know his life was not lost in vain. I live in Lake Worth and have seen the difference PBSO has made in the huge reduction in crime in our City. May his memory live on. .

can someone explain why during the investigation of thi s incident no one checked the recording devices on board the patrol cat that would have validated the speed, time and other info such as the headlights on or off? this chip info could have solved the problem

I am devastated to hear the late Officer Donata Manuel had died, he was full of energy and love for the work he did, I met him in 2006 when I was looking for a fugitive and he was respectfull and supportive of us Bondsmen, he saw as helpers and said the more eyes the more we can all make a difference. I am also sorry to know another Officer died , respect to the Deputies, may God bless their souls, amen

Mack Thomas - 12/15/2007 (Palm Bach County)
My wife and I are very sorry for your losses. It always saddens me when we lose such fine young men. Sometimes it does not seem right. But I have lived my life in the belief that the Lord has a plan and knows what we do not in fullfiling it. I spent 24 yers in the US Army from View Nam to Desert Storm, I was there and seen a lot of young people die. Then the Iraq war, then the loss of so many law enforcement officers lately. I will pray for them all. And believe me when I say I pray for them daily and the ones left behind. Mack Thomas, US Army Retired. And now a proud member of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Even though your hearts are heavy and filled with sadness, just know that the Lord does not make mistakes and he knows that you are hurting, but believe this, if you keep looking up, and remember them in your hearts and mind, both Donta and Joanathan will live on. May God keep your families is my prayer.
Words cannot express enough the pain we are all feeling due to this great loss. I first met Donta when I was 15 yrs old and throughout the course of his career he has always remained down to earth and one of those people you can count on to make your day a little brighter. I first met Jonathan through his Mom and then when he became a Deputy. I had the opportunity to have a conversation with him and he was truly someone who loved God and I felt that in the words he spoke. This is and will continue to be a difficult situation to deal with but God will continue to keep us and guide us so that we will see them again one day. Love you guys!!

I am attempting to help people understand the there is internal healing in West Palm Beach. I now this. Hippocrates Health Institute is right there & one of the most inexpensive I have found yet. With all the environmental chemicals we consume alone is a great reason to go there. When we have these incidences please immediately consider these programs available. They usually run three weeks but healing starts within the first twentyfour hours. Our bodies push out what is toxic when you flush out your insides. This is an option. Please remember this.

I remember when Sgt.James Hunt was shot. I was in my early 20's and had just moved to Florida. I was shocked at such a senseless crime. Now that I am older and a little bitter wiser, I realize unfortunately, that there are horrible people in this world and we are lucky to have police officers like Sgt. James Hunt to protect us. I am happy to see that his killer at least received life, although I still feel the death penalty should have stayed. I hope his wife and two sons have found some closure and can now remember some of the good times they had with him. RIP sir. Thank you for your service.

I found Jim's story when researching fallen law enforcement officers around the world.
God Bless you Jim and your family.
David Kuwamoto - 07/21/2010 (Jena, Louisiana)
My deepest condolences go out to all of Jim’s family, friends, loved ones and colleagues.
I had the pleasure of Meeting Jim in Military Police training back in 1978; we were in the same Company, Platoon and even same squad.
After completion of our training Jim and I both were stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, were we both served with the 208th Military Police Company for three years.
I had heard that he moved back to FL and was now working in Law Enforcement there, several years ago another friend of ours, who served with us in Missouri said he had heard of the tragic passing of Jim as a FL officer, but wasn’t sure of the location or circumstances or if it was even the same Jim we had known. As I was searching names on the web this site came up and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! Even though I had kind of know this may have happened, I always wanted to believe that, maybe it was someone else with a similar name, but the photo confirms that indeed it is the same man I had known and served with so many years ago.
It hit me very hard and I am very saddened with the news of his passing. He was a great guy and a man of honor; you could take him at his word.
God bless you all.

So many years ago. I worked with Jim at the Lake Park Police Department in the 80.s. A kind soul and friend to me during my law enforcement career. RIP good friend.

Back in 1980 I was a young Greenacres City Police Officer, I left there to join the New York City Police Department. I am now seving as a US Customs and Border Protection Officer in Charlotte, NC. Time goes by and we meet people along the way. I have had the unique opportunity to work alongside some of the most noteworthy law enforcement officers in the Country, and "Rick" Landes will always stand out as a true professional with a kind and human heart. It was my good fortune to have known him.

I do give all of my respects to all fallen Heroes, and I feel that the Heroes who we're murdered did not deserve what happened to them therefore I take pity on those suspects. It's just a crying shame.
