Airport (PBIA)

The Division is responsible for providing high quality law enforcement services, in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements, to the terminal area and all properties within the boundaries of the Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA). Airport Division personnel continually patrol the cargo/baggage, parking ramps/garages, remote parking, air operation areas and provide high visibility and plain-clothes patrols of the lobbies, security screening checkpoints and gate areas of the Terminal Building.

Since the tragedy of September 11, 2001, additional security measures are in place to assist in ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for the millions of passengers who travel through PBIA each year. The increased law enforcement presence includes K-9’s specially trained in the detection of explosive devices.

In 2007 the Airport Division’s law enforcement services were complimented with five K-9 Teams participating in the Transportation Security Administration’s National Explosive Detection Canine Team Program. The Airport Division’s collaborative commitment to this program enables law enforcement to provide enhanced service and safety to the traveling public.
