Operation Southern Slow Down 2026

Beginning July 13, 2026, state and local law enforcement agencies in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee will join forces for a week-long high-visibility enforcement and awareness campaign to reduce fatalities and serious injuries by encouraging motorists to obey speed limits on roadways ranging from local streets to interstate highways. This initiative is called “Operation Southern Slow Down” and will run from July 13 through July 18, 2026.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Deputies will be taking part in Operation Southern Slow Down, partnering with law enforcement agencies throughout Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Operation Southern Slow Down will focus on the busy summertime travel period, when injury and fatal crashes increase significantly. The high-visibility enforcement and awareness campaign will occur on all major roadways within Palm Beach County and will work to reduce fatalities and serious injuries by encouraging motorists to obey speed limits. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), speeding has been a factor in nearly one-third of all traffic deaths in the United States.

Victim (unidentified remains) Found in November of 2000

On November 21, 2000, unidentified human remains were discovered in a canal at the 18000 block of State Road 7, approximately one mile north of Clint Moore Road, in Boca Raton, Florida. The individual is believed to be a Hispanic male between 21 and 35 years of age, approximately 5’4” tall and weighing about 113 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing black “Attrak” jeans, a tan long-sleeve work-style shirt, white tube socks with gray and black stripes at the top, and black and white Nike Air shoes.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division is conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol on June 19, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM, on major and secondary roadways throughout the Palm Beach County and surrounding districts.

Deputies will conduct high visibility enforcement of all traffic violations, with an emphasis on removing impaired drivers from our roadways.
