Meet Major A. Jermaine Ford
began the first 4 years of his law enforcement career as a police officer with the Boynton Beach Police Department, located in the City of Boynton Beach, FL. In 1999, Major Ford joined the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) as a Deputy Sheriff. His previous assignments include Road Patrol Deputy, Narcotics Agent, DEA Task Force Officer, Road Patrol Sergeant, District Commander (District 11), Watch Commander, Executive Officer of the Violent Crimes Division (Homicide), Executive Officer of Internal Affairs, and Command Duty Officer (Law Enforcement Operations).
Major Ford currently oversees the Field Operations Bureau of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which encompasses the Command Duty Officers and Watch Commanders, Traffic Division, and Community Resources Division. The latter division includes the Wildlands Unit, School Traffic Safety Unit, Off-Duty Permits, Police Athletic League Program, Prisoner Transport, Alarm Enforcement Unit, Honor Guard, Volunteer Chaplain Unit, and the LGBTQ Liaison Unit. The Field Operations Bureau has a combined staff of 711 dedicated men and women committed to providing professional law enforcement services to our residents and visitors.
Major Ford holds a B.A. Degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). He’s a Dean’s Scholar graduate of the 129th Administrative Officer’s Course at the Southern Police Institute through the School of Justice Administration at the University of Louisville, and a graduate of the 74th Session of the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) held at Boston University, organized through the Police Executive Research Forum. Major Ford is married with three sons.
