Open Enrollment for retirees with medical and dental insurance through PBSO usually occurs in
October/November. The Benefits Division – Retirement Team will send you information via email
and regular mail. No action is required if there are no changes.
Open enrollment changes take effect on January 1st of the following year.
Additionally, if you have Life Insurance as a PBSO retiree, you will be notified of any changes for
the following year.
It may also be a good time to update beneficiary information for your life insurance policy. In
order to be in compliance with best practices, you should update your beneficiaries as soon as
possible following any change in circumstances, preferably within 30 days of the qualifying event.
