
Meet Chief Deputy Robert L. Allen
Over the past four decades Chief Deputy Allen’s career reflects a clear progression through the ranks. He has held key leadership positions, including commanding the Department of Strategic Operations. In this role, he oversaw Major Crime Investigations, Homeland Security Bureau and specialized units such as SWAT, Bomb Squad, Canine Operations, Marine Unit and the Aviation Unit.
Chief Deputy Allen has served as the Chairperson for the Law Enforcement Response Group for the Regional Domestic Security Task Force, responsible for the acquisition and deployment of equipment and personnel to disasters, both natural and man-made. He is currently a member of the Statewide Executive Board. Chief Deputy Allen has traveled extensively both domestically and internationally, to train with subject matter experts in all fields of homeland security and dignitary protection.
Today as the Chief Deputy his responsibilities now also include the Department of Operational Support, Department of Strategic Operations, Department of Uniform Operations, and the Department of Corrections Operations and he is responsible for an annual budget of 749 million with a staff composition of 2,350 sworn and 1,729 civilian personnel.
Chief Deputy Allen continues to lead the department with integrity and vision, ensuring the department remains a pillar of excellence serving the residents of Palm Beach County. His dedication to public safety and adaptability to evolving challenges make him a respected figure in law enforcement.
Chief Deputy Allen is married with one son, currently on active duty with the United States Army and has two grandchildren.
