Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw Hosts National Night Out On Crime 2015
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, local businesses, and community leaders held a National Night Out on Crime event in Royal Palm Beach, Fl. It was a family event with food, PBSO Specialty Units, and all kinds of activities for families and kids.
The goals were to educate the public to decrease crime in our county and also to create good relations between PBSO and the citizens of Palm Beach County.
Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said “What’s important tonight is not so much the crime prevention part as it is the connection between the agency and the citizens. One of the most important things we got going now to help protect the community is ‘See Something, Say Something’. People see something everyday [and] they need to talk to people about it and call the agency. But if they don’t have that relationship, if they don’t have that connection to the agency, [then] they feel apprehensive about it [so] they’re not going to call. So on a night like tonight, when we get together we can have some food together, they see the deputies in a different light the kids come here and have a good time it starts that connection where they feel comfortable to [call us]. So it just started out as a basic crime prevention tool but it has expanded into something that’s much more important.”
