On February 8, 2022, at 3:40 pm, a suspect knocked on a resident’s door in the Village of Wellington with a package asking if the package belonged to the female resident who opened the door. The suspect asked the resident to sign a document, advising he was collecting signatures in an effort to stop packages from being left without customers signing for them. He then forcibly pushed the package forward towards the resident blocking her from fleeing the residence. During a brief struggle the resident yelled for help and the suspect fled the residence.

The investigation led detectives to identify the suspect as Leroy Kelson III.

On February 26, 2022, Leroy Kelson III was located and arrested for Burglary – Dwelling with Battery, Battery on a person 65 years or older and False Imprisonment.
