PBSO Mentoring Program Spends a Day at Big Dog Ranch Rescue
Over 80 kids work with rescue dogs & learn how to care for them

Palm Beach County, FL. – June 28, 2024 – The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Mentoring Program will bring 80 kids to enjoy a day full of activities at Big Dog Ranch Rescue. The all-day camp/retreat allows the kids time to work with the rescue dogs and puppies. Participants will learn how to properly care for dogs by grooming, walking, washing, feeding and learning how to train them throughout the day. They will hear rescue stories as well as the backgrounds of individual dogs who have been rescued. The kids will take photos with the rescues and will receive a special “dog house” piggy bank to help care for their own pets or to help support rescue missions.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw will participate with the children and his Deputies as the kids learn important life lessons.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue Founder and CEO Lauree Simmons says educating the next generation is critical, “Children are the future and it’s extremely important for them to learn how to care for our furry friends. Letting these young mentees see how they can help homeless dogs and prevent abuse will hopefully lead to their support and care into adulthood.”

About Big Dog Ranch Rescue

Founded in 2008 by Lauree Simmons, Big Dog Ranch Rescue saves dogs in distress from high-kill shelters throughout the country, abused dogs, and dogs suffering from inhumane treatment and natural disasters. The ranch has saved more than 70,000 lives as the largest no-kill rescue in the United States. From saving dogs from the China Meat trade across the world to reuniting dogs with their owners following hurricanes in the Bahamas to successfully lobbying for the first federal animal anti-cruelty law in U.S. history, Big Dog Ranch Rescue is a global voice against animal abuse. Community-focused programs include providing service dogs for disabled Veterans and helping seniors with companion dogs. At the ranch each rescued dog is healed both physically and mentally, a philosophy that has resulted in an adoption success rate that is unequaled.
